Letter From the Editor

In an effort to best utilize this space, I'm putting our meeting highlights here for those of you that wish to keep up to date, but regretfully cannot attend our meetings. MARCH- We had three guest speakers at this meeting. Mrs. McManus and Mrs. Templin, our home economics teachers, gave a presentation about their classes and what they are learning. Mr. Latorre, the Band Director, gave a mini-concert with the 5th grade band, and Mrs. Ross gave a presentatnion about the library and the Book Fair. Plans were discussed for the ArtWalk, Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, Ice Cream Social and the Doll Raffle. The PTO will again be doing packets for the Kindergarten Orientation Learning Totes. APRIL- The ArtWalk was held in place of the monthly meeting. MAY- PTO supplied the teachers with doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, and juice for Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank You notes from several people were read. Plans got underway for the Supply Sale and details were discussed for the kindergarten padckets and a budget approved. The doll raffle winner was announced- Cindy Heiber was the lucky winner! Collection for the PTO basket auction has begun, and donations from businesses will still be collected to make a "two-part" auction. Volunteers are needed to help with the Chinese Auction. SOUND INTERESTING?......Come join us!

Our thanks to those that support Market Day, and also to the many that come to help on pick-up day. The April incentive program is for every dessert purchase, Mr. T has to spend time on the roof. May was the last sale, so wer hope you were able to stock up for the summer. Our next sale will be in September. Order online at http://www.marketday.com or from the PTO website at https://members.tripod.com/~berneunionpto/Rockets.html
ArtWalk

The halls were filled with our students' best artwork. Each hallway was assigned a grade and a theme. The themes coincided with the National Drug Awareness Campaign;
Kindergarten-Red-Love
Superkids-Orange-Respect
3rd Grade-Green-Energy
4th Grade-Purple-Pride
5th Grade-Yellow-Happiness
Middle School-Blue-Dreams
High School-White-Clear Minds

The Silent Auction and the Art Shop were very popular and raised enough money to buy the art books for the libraries! Mr T drew the winning raffle ticket for the American Girl Doll at the end of the evening. A HUGE Thank You to Linda Hewetson, the ArtWalk Chairperson, for a job well done. Her commitment and vision make the ArtWalk such a success. It's wonderful to be able to bring the students, their families, and the community together for an evening of fun. We look forward to next year.

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

A fun-filled evening was on the agenda for several school and PTO volunteers. A dinner, catered by Mary Morris, was enjoyed by all. Ellen Ford provided entertainment and certificates of appreciation were distributed to everyone that was present. Thank You to Mr. T and Michelle Storts for planning a great evening.
